This show is the final announcement of the 2018 series of Caerphilly Castle shows which will also see The Bootleg Beatles, The Levellers (15th and 16th June) and The Selecter & The Beat feat. Ranking Roger (13th July) perform at Wales’ largest castle.
Thunder’s brand new live album ‘STAGE’ is out now through earMUSIC. ‘STAGE’ features hits from across the band’s career and includes fan-favourite classics such as ‘Backstreet Symphony’, ‘River Of Pain’ and ‘Love Walked In’, bringing things right up to date with tracks from the 2017 Top 3 UK Chart Album ‘Rip It Up’. Thunder are of course in demand around the world, with ‘STAGE’ captured at their Cardiff Motorpoint Arena on March 24th 2017 during the UK Tour. They toured Europe in April, followed by summer festivals, more shows in Germany with Alice Cooper in November, then returned to the UK to close the weekend at Planet Rock’s ‘Rockstock’. They sold out two Christmas shows at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in December, followed by shows in Japan, Germany, Austria and Holland in January. The band are performing on the main stage at Download this year on Saturday 9th June (the Guns 'n' Roses day). This is a band that knows how to rock a crowd and shows no signs of letting up!
Since forming in 1989, the Londoners have established themselves among the UK’s most consistent performers, notching up 20 Top Fifty singles and cultivating a well-deserved reputation as consummate live performers. Having been fêted by Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses and Whitesnake’s David Coverdale, their first two albums, ‘Back Street Symphony’ (1990) and ‘Laughing On Judgement Day’ (1992), were both certified Gold in the UK. With a lineage dating back to the cream of British hard rock – Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, The Who and Deep Purple – and song writing greats such as the Kinks, The Beatles and The Faces, the band’s sound is a timeless marriage of unforgettable melodies and sheer rock power.
Support for this show comes from Pontypridd based rock band Hand of Dimes who are based around the reunion of former SKIN singer and front man Neville MacDonald and keyboard player Neil Garland. The band have supported FM, Wishbone Ash, The Union and have appeared at Steelhouse Festival, Hard Rock Hell Festival and Planet Rock‘s Winter’s End Festival. Opening the show will be Cats in Space, who’ll be no strangers to the Thunder audience that saw them act as support on the band’s 2017 UK Tour.
Thunder are now bigger, better and more popular than ever before. Guitar & Bass called them simply, “One of the finest British rock bands around”. In the terrific setting of Caerphilly Castle, this show is unmissable.
