PHASE TWO OF INSIDE OUT FESTIVAL REVEALED
Inside Out Festival’s phase two artist announcement has lived up to expectations following the announcement of Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac and chart-topping Craig David’s TS5 on the decks in the headline slot. Festival organisers have added grime stalwart Lethal Bizzle, no.1 hit DJ Sigala, Artwork, Jasper James, Jody Barr, OC & Verde, Rewire and Varski, and The Stickmen to the line-up taking over Bute Park, Saturday 30 September.
One of the fastest growing East London Grime artists Lethal Bizzle first exploded onto the British music scene in 2003 as part of More Fire Crew, whose debut single, the Garage anthem ‘Oi’, charted at no. 7 in the UK singles charts. Since then as a solo artist he has released three albums and twenty singles, including the Grime anthem ‘Pow (Forward)’; become a MOBO award winner; and embarked on two sold out headline tours. After dropping ‘I Win’ the triumphant Skepta assisted single currently playlisted on BBC Radio 1, new EP ‘You'll Never Make A Million From Grime’ is a must for fans of grime.
Chart-topping DJ Sigala, the man behind the huge singles ‘Easy Love’ and ‘Sweet Lovin’, came from nowhere in 2016 to dominate the UK dance scene. The 24- year-old Brit has had a string of Vodafone Big Top 40 hits with his high-profile collaborations with the likes of Inside Out Festival headliner Craig David, John Newman and Hailee Steinfield. His latest single, released this week, ‘Came Here For Love’ features Ella Eyre and is tipped to be his biggest record to date.
Dubstep pioneer and Magnetic Man member, Artwork, spent the late ’90s and early ’00s knocking out garage anthems like it was nothing (with D’n’D, Menta and under his own name), while running the studio above seminal Croydon record store Big Apple. It was at Big Apple where he met Skream and Benga – the three of them went on to form Magnetic Man, and become dubstep’s first major label-signed, chart-topping success story. He will be flying solo at Inside Out Festival with his moody rhythms that have seized global attention.
Jasper James, a DJ and producer with talent that stretches beyond his years, has crafted his own-brand of house and techno through DJ sets at some of the world’s most respected clubs. He continues to build ties with Europe’s wider electronic music scene and cement himself as one of the UK and Europe’s leading young selectors capable of working any crowd, at any time.
Arriving on the scene in 2015, Jody Barr has continued firmly on his ascent to the top. Demonstrating astute studio skills beyond his years and sporting a serious arsenal of hardware, Barr specialises in his own strain of ‘Technofied House Music’ - burly, rattling dance floor tracks that have seen airplay across a multitude of Radio 1 shows.
Raised in the 90’s on a healthy diet of 80’s Synth Pop, Acid House and Techno, OC & Verde are heading for Cardiff with their monster tracks including ‘That’s Right’; A record that earned itself over 15 weeks of continuous support on BBC Radio 1. For the last few years they’ve been cutting their production teeth recording under a different name but now they’ve dropped the alias to deliver a new sound.
Rewire and Varski are embarking on their busiest summer festival ever playing a wide & eclectic variety of music from main room house to underground bass and will tease the Cardiff crowd with several curve balls. The pairs’ combination of DJing ability, raw energy and polished hosting skills, has created a highly tuned, powerful and effective formula.
The Stickmen make their return to Inside Out Festival following rave reviews from last year’s set. The DJ/production duo who started making music together in 2016 literally outshine their peers and illuminate crowds with their futuristic live show. Their custom LED drum kit is a spectacle in itself which when combined with skilful DJ-ing is a truly electrifying display not to be missed.
With extra stages, plenty of bars, street food stands and a huge funfair, Inside Out Festival 2017 will be like no other event in the city.
