PETE TONG IBIZA CLASSICS SUPPORT ANNOUNCED
Our show with Pete Tong and The Heritage Orchestra just got even bigger! Joining the line up will be Leftfield DJs and Becky Hill!
Neil Barnes has been taking his Leftfield DJ Set around the world with an eclectic, modern club set with some of the best new house and techno and delivers a masterclass in an all-encompassing vortex of rich sounds. Throughout the 90s Leftfield were untouchable live and on record. Their debut Leftism, remains one of the defining statements of 90s dance music, a gloriously inter-woven bombardment of musical styles and immaculate grooves, nominated for a Mercury prize and later voted in the top ten greatest albums of all time by readers of Q magazine.
The 90s were all but over when the second Leftfield album appeared in Autumn 1999. Rhythm And Stealth worked with a darker hue and more pronounced techno influence, guests including Roots Manuva, MC Cheshire Cat and Afrika Bambaataa on first single Afrika Shox, which reached the UK top ten.
The album - like its predecessor - would be nominated for a Mercury prize while one of its tracks, Phat Planet, soundtracked the award-winning ‘Surfer’ advert for Guinness.
In 2015, Leftfield released their third album ‘Alternative Light Source’ to enormous acclaim and great success, with vocal contributions from Channy (Poliça), Tunde Adebimpe (TVOTR) and Sleaford Mods.
Becky Hill could have taken the easy path, the fast route, a shortcut. She could, in theory, be a lot further on in her career if her goal was merely to be ‘famous’. But Becky Hill isn’t interested in fame and fortune. She’d actually prefer the acclaim without the renown, were that possible? Becky Hill just wants to make music.
The 19 year-old has spent the last two years writing, performing and singing with the likes of Bondax, Gorgon City, Rudimental and MNEK, learning how to transform her talent into toplines, melodies and simple yet evocative songwriting. She has already featured on Rudimental’s Powerless taken from their No.1 album, Home, and vocalled Wilkinson’s D&B Top 10 hit Afterglow, which she co-wrote with Talay Riley (Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah). Becky is currently working on her debut album with rising all-rounder MNEK, man of the moment Two Inch Punch and Derbyshire dance producer Karma Kid.
