JOHN OWEN-JONES ANNOUNCES A NEW TOUR & ALBUM
Award-winning West End and Broadway star John Owen-Jones, the singer who has played Phantom more than any other West End actor and was the youngest actor to ever play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, will release his brand new album Spotlight in the Autumn and then set out on a tour of his Welsh homeland this October. (Tickets available from www.johnowenjones.com).
Spotlight will feature John’s unique take on tracks from musicals and more, with music performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of John’s long time musical collaborator, John Quirk.
John says – “I think Spotlight could be my best album yet! I think it’s a really exciting selection of songs and the 65-piece City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra sound amazing. I can’t wait for people to hear it!
To coincide with the release of Spotlight, John has announced a 5 date tour across Wales this October in support of the new album, stopping off at Porthcawl, Llanelli, Colwyn Bay, Brecon and Carmarthen. Fans can expect to hear material off his brand new album alongside a selection of songs that have helped make him the well loved performer that he is today.
John says – “I’ve travelled around the world to perform in concert but it’s always really special coming home to sing. I’m even more excited to be back home this time as it’s the first time people can hear me sing tracks from Spotlight live!”

John Owen-Jones was recently featured in The Stage newspaper’s Top 10 West End musical theatre performers list, compiled by writer and theatre critic Mark Shenton and came third in a BBC Radio Wales poll for the Greatest Ever Welsh singers. 2017 was a stellar year for John as he performed to great critical acclaim in The Wild Party (the inaugural production at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Other Palace Theatre in London) and created a brand new role (written for him) in the epic Tiger Bay: the Musical at Cape Town and Cardiff. He capped the year off with two dazzling performances at St. David’s Hall, Cardiff and at his sold out homecoming show at Y Ffwrnes, Llanelli.
