FIRST LADY OF MUSICAL THEATRE ELAINE PAIGE BRINGS HER SHOW HITS TO WALES
Olivier award-winning actress, broadcaster and musical theatre stalwart Elaine Paige has announced a concert at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall (3rd Oct), Llandudno's Venue Cymru (2nd Nov) and Aberystwyth Arts Centre (3rd Nov)
Elaine, who won a Lawrence Olivier award for her performance in Evita, has starred in more smash hit musicals than anyone else of her generation. Elaine will perform many of the songs that made her a global star at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, recently ranked one of the Top 10 of the world’s best sounding halls, on Wednesday 4 October 2017. As a recording artist Elaine has released 22 solo albums, including 4 multi-Platinum and 9 Gold, has featured on 7 cast recordings and has had major worldwide hits. She became a household name with songs such as Memory from Lloyd-Webber’s Cats, and I Know Him So Well from Chess by Abba’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. She has performed live in concert all over the world.
“These songs are the soundtrack to my life”, said Elaine. “Nothing beats performing live, it’s where I started my career and I still get those goosebumps when the music starts. I’ll be singing songs from shows I’ve lived throughout the years and also putting my own spin on some of my favourite showtunes.”
Elaine presents the hugely successful weekly BBC Radio 2 programme “Elaine Paige on Sunday”, which celebrates the best of Broadway, Hollywood and the West End, and delights audiences of over 2.5 million listeners each week. Elaine made her first professional appearance on stage nearly fifty years ago, at the age of 16 and it was her appearance in the 1968 production of Hair that marked her West End debut.
