BRYAN ADAMS PLAYS COLWYN BAY IN THE SUMMER OF ‘17
Rock legend and Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams brings his great live show to Eirias Stadium, Colwyn Bay on Sunday July 9 - the major event in north Wales in the summer of ’17, following in the tradition of Sir Tom Jones, Sir Elton John and Lionel Richie (tickets on sale: 9am Friday December 2 www.ticketmaster.co.uk and Venue Cymru 01492 872 000).
Multi-platinum recording artist Bryan last year released his 13th studio album, Get Up, produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne, featuring a solid collection of beautifully-crafted rock songs such as Brand New Day, You Belong To Me, and Thunderbolt, plus gentler songs such as Don’t Even Try, and We Did It All – every one highlighting Adams’ unique voice and depth. The Canadian boasts an incredible catalogue of work, including some of his best known songs Run to You, Summer of '69, the incredibly successful (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, Heaven, All for Love, and Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?
Amongst numerous honours, Adams has 15 Grammy Award nominations to his name, including a win for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television in 1992. He has also won three Ivor Novello Awards for song composition and has been nominated five times for Golden Globe Awards and three times for Academy Awards for his songwriting for films.
Producing next summer’s concert once again at Eirias Stadium is the current Regional Promoter of the Year in the UK Live Music Business Awards, Orchard, whose director Pablo Janczur said: “It’s not easy maintaining the calibre of acts we’ve been able to bring to north Wales in the footsteps of Tom, Elton and Lionel, but I think Bryan Adams fits the bill perfectly. We look forward to renewing our excellent relationships with partners Conwy Council and Principality Building Society to ensure another great summer’s day for the people of north Wales.”
Cllr Graham Rees, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, Marketing & Leisure said: “We’re thrilled and very excited to once again have an international artist in Eirias next year. Not only does a name such as Bryan Adams put Colwyn Bay on the map, it also contributes to the economic benefit of North Wales. The Lionel Richie concert in Eirias earlier this year produced a return on investment of £4.50 for every £1 spent, proving events are crucially important to the economy of Conwy County. We know there will be lots of enthusiasm shown by people of all ages for this concert and we can’t wait to offer Bryan Adams a warm Welsh welcome”
The event is supported by Conwy County Borough Council, Bay of Colwyn Town Council, and media partners Heart FM; Daily Post; and North Wales Weekly News. Access All Eirias is also supported by Principality Building Society, which is backing the concert at Eirias Stadium for the sixth year in a row.
David Critcher, North Wales Regional Manager for Principality Building Society, said: “Once again Orchard have done an incredible job by attracting a world renowned artist to Eirias in Bryan Adams which will help put North Wales in the spotlight. Principality is proud to be at the heart of our local communities and we are committed to supporting events like this to give more back to our Members. We want to help our Members have a memorable time with their family and friends by giving them opportunity to watch the show via our Member Rewards and competitions. It promises to be an unforgettable day.”
